Chapter Two: Update your Social Media

So step 4 is to update your social media site status. And just a little FYI, I have seen a good amount of questions come in. And I’m kind of rolling thru this on purpose that I’ll have plenty of time to answer questions. So definitely get your questions ready and stay tuned for that at the end. I am leaving a good amount of time to answer everybody’s questions. So, step 4 is updating your social media sites status. That’s when you’re going thru all the social media websites that you use and linking back to page one so that people can see your content.

Chapter One: Follow-up

Now, as far as setting up all those emails, you definitely want to use a provider that does that automatically to make sure that you’re complying with the spam laws. You just don’t want to have people email you and you respond to them. It’s going to be messy and you’re not going to be complying with spam. So I like to use a service called AWeber. That’s a really good one. I think it’s good to start out with that one because when you want more advanced functionality later, it has it all built in.

Social Media Selling System

So, now let’s get in to the five steps of selling with social media. Step 1 is to create a free sample or special gift. OK. Here’s what’s kind of tricky that we’re doing today. We’re really selling just by giving away great free content because something that’s unique about social media, you can’t just like stick a link up to your sales page. You cannot stick a link up to the product page on your e-commerce site and just say, “Buy this”. I actually get those pitches sometimes on Twitter where maybe I’ll ask about a resource for something else.

Chapter Four: Prosects

I want to talk a little bit about the cycle length of selling on social media. If you're in a business where you're used to having face-to-face sales conversations with people, you can expect social media to take it longer to make sales. This is of course a generality. It depends on you. It depends on your business. But that's what I've seen.

Chapter Three: Sales and Prospects

So with that, I want to move on to the last step and then we're going to get a little more in-depth on some other kind of issues surrounding selling on social media. So we've attracted customers in step 1, we've engaged with them in step 2, we've really built up that know, like, and trust factor. Now, we need to move them into our sales funnel. The first thing you need to think about is how do you sell? Again, a lot of people who say they have a conversion problem with social media actually have a conversion problem with everything.

Chapter Two: Engaging Customers

Okay. Let's move on to number two, which is engaging customers. So number one was attracting customers, meaning you're getting people into your world. So in social media that means they're becoming a fan on Facebook, they're following you on Twitter, they're connecting with you on LinkedIn, they're joining your site, whatever that is for you, that's number one. Number two is to engage the customers and this is where we're really building that whole know, like, and trust, right?

Chapter One: Attracting Customers

So first, let's dive in to number one, attracting customers. This is where we're going to spend the least amount of time in this article because again this is a whole another topic that I have a lot of resources about, different ways to get people into your funnel. For today's sake, we're assuming that you already have some audience. Again, it doesn’t need to be a huge audience, but there are lots of activities that you're doing to attract these customers, to put your name in front of them, to bring them into your world in the first place.

Google Plus

Simply put, Google+ is Google’s official social network. Much like Facebook, you can create a personal profile, connect with others who create a Google+ profile, share multimedia links and engage with other users. To sign up, all you need to do is visit www.plus.google.com and type in some basic information about yourself. After clicking “Join” Google+ will suggest some from friends who are already on Google+ to add to your network, or your “circles.” Circles are one of the main elements of Google+. You can create as many circles as you want and organize them with labels.

Google Trends

With Google Trends, you can compare the world’s interest in your favourite topics. It's a powerful tool for doing market research; it lets you view what's trending online, which means what people are searching for online. What's also good about this tool is that you can view how a keyword's popularity has risen or declined over a period of time. This can be useful as it can help you make the decision whether to enter a certain market or not. Sometimes you can even make predictions by looking at the way a certain market is trending over a period of time.
